Málaga Visa & Residency Guide
Securing the right to live in Spain is the foundation of your relocation. Following Brexit, this process has become more structured for non-EU citizens.

1. The Non-Lucrative Visa (NLV)
The NLV is designed for those who have the financial means to support themselves without working in Spain.
- Requirements: For 2026, the primary applicant must prove roughly €30,000 in annual passive income or savings, plus €7,500 for each additional family member.
- Restrictions: You are strictly prohibited from working, including remote work for foreign companies.
2. The Digital Nomad Visa (DNV)
The DNV is the premier route for remote workers and freelancers.
- Requirements: You must prove you earn at least 200% of the Spanish minimum wage (approx. €2,600/month) from work outside of Spain.
- Benefits: Tax advantages via the "Beckham Law" regime and the ability to live and work anywhere in Spain.
3. The TIE Card
Once your visa is approved and you arrive in Málaga, you must apply for your Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero (TIE). This is your physical residency card. You must secure an appointment (cita previa) at the police station in Málaga, Torre del Mar, or Antequera to provide your fingerprints.
